A Work in Progress.

This is my third attempt at knitting socks.

Over the years I’ve done quite a bit of knitting but not for a long time and never with four needles at one time!  About 12 months ago I decided to have a bash at socks.  I kept seeing them on different blogs and thought I’d have a go.  I have to say it’s quite tricky at first to juggle four little needles all at the same time.  But very satisfying once you master the art.

Hand knitted by me, aren't they gorgeous?. March 2009

Here’s the first pair I knitted.  I was so pleased with myself the first time I put them both on and they fitted!

I know the stripes don’t match but the yarn I use is the self-striping variety and the knitter doesn’t have any control over the striping.  Well, this knitter doesn’t.  Maybe there is a way and I just don’t know about it.  It wouldn’t surprise me.

So there’s my simple pleasure for this week’s link up with Dayle over at A Collection of This and That.

TTFN,

Kathleen.

With FOUR needles at one time? You rock. I can't get two needles to do what I want them to do. Those look great. I think having the talent to do them is simple pleasure enough.

The finished socks are gravy on the taters.

They look fantatic! How amazing, I posted about knitting socks too. It's the first time I've ever tried to knit socks and I used a circular needle. I love the colour of yours, the variegated yarns are amazing, you never know what pattern you'll get.

Dear Kathleen...OH OH OH OH OH! I love your socks. They came out wonderful. Good for you. I could never do that.

I want, also, to thank you for visiting my blog and commenting. It's true that the winds of change are always blowing....sometimes torrentially, sometimes gently.

Take care and please stop by again! Susan

Hi,

I just love your sockings...it makes me want to make a pair and if I did I would want to use the same serendipidous yarn that you did...it makes them much more interesting.(-: Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and leave such a nice comment.

The socks are too cute!!!! I could never attempt knitting. Maybe one day. Love the bright colors. Kathleen, so glad you dropped by Places of my Heart, so I could find you. In a hurry, doing the packing for a trip to see family. I'm excited about reading more of your blog. So interesting to read & see pics from other parts of the country. :)
(Love the antique store - the ceiling in there was magnificent.)

I love the socks! I can't even darn a sock, much less knit a pair. And don't worry about the stripes not matching. A co-worker told me today that her daughters say it is the current trend to wear mis-matched socks. Sure solves the problem of all those missing socks coming from the dryer.

Blessings,
Joan
