More Gap Filling

Every couple of months or so Billy and I go up to the Lake District to visit his sister  and her husband.  We always have a good time with them and the fact that they live in one of the most beautiful parts of England makes going to see them extra special.

Here they are in Whinlatter Mountain Forest Park.  I shouted to them to turn round and wave.  It looks like Billy didn't quite understand what I said!  Arthur makes him worse,  he laughs at everything he does. 11/09/09.

Keswick

Ullswater on a very calm and mild day, the water was like a millpond.

Two Little Treasures watching the telly.  It was probably Fireman Sam, Peppa Pig or Mickey Mouse, they don't watch anything else. 15/09/09

Saltburn by the Sea.  On 20th September we all drove up to the east coast for a day at the beach.  It was a beautiful day for late September.  We took a picnic which we ate on the beach and the boys had a great time. The next time our American relatives come over for a holiday this place is on the list to take them.

Filling in the Gaps.

Toay I thought I would fill in the gaps between August and now.

Here's Caroline at the beginning of August standing in front of Towneley Hall, Burnley.  This beautiful old hall is open to the public but we have yet to go inside and have a look round. Dogs are not allowed in and we always take our little dog to the park with us, we'll just have to leave him at home one of these days and have a look round the place.  Our main reason for coming here is the huge park in which it stands and it has become one of our favourite places this year.
George with his new bike. We're out for a walk round the estate where we live so that he can ride it.  16/08/09
My girls and their boys out for a walk round a nearby lake.  This was on one of the better days this summer had to offer, 22/08/09.  Template "Little Dreamer Designs".

The last week in August the Williams', William and I went down to Devon again for a week, camping this time. Some days the sun shone but more often it didn't. Above is Trev with Charlie on Burton Bradstock beach in Devon.  It was a wild and windy day, exhilarating you might say!

Budleigh Salterton and the sun shone, it was glorious.

An impressive thatched cottage in Budleigh Salterton.

This is Weymouth harbour.  We had never been to Weymouth before but we'll go again.  It's a big resort with a huge beach and this thriving harbour full of history and boats.
I thought this front door was really eye-catching with its immaculately polished  and appropriate brassware.  Its right on the harbour front, not far from where the picture above was taken.
By the end of the week the weather looked like this so we packed up and came home a day early.  What would you have done?

Fountains Abbey

Billy and I drove over into Yorkshire on Friday to visit Fountains Abbey. I have visited the Abbey several times over the years and it never ceases to impress me. Friday was no exception, the ruins looked beautiful with the colours of autumn around it.

The Abbey was founded in 1132 by just 13 monks and it grew to be one of the richest in Europe. That was until Henry VIII came along and decided it would be a good idea to knock it down!

Thank Heaven for Little Boys

Here are some recent pictures of my 3 grandsons. This is George looking very angelic.

Then we have Nicholas and Charlie. I took these pics on Thursday when I was looking after them. They were busy "reading" and playing with books so I grabbed my camera and just snapped away for a few minutes.

Nicholas

Here is my little nephew Jacob, he was only 2 years and 10 months old when this was filmed. Unfortunately you have to watch with your head tilted to one side, I didn't realise at the time that video clips wouldn't rotate. I have never seen such a little thing get the ball in the hoop as often as this little fellow does, he is amazing!
