Harbour Town, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Moving on from the beach in the previous post we consulted the visitor guides and decided a visit to Harbour Town, just a short drive away, …

… and its lighthouse would be our next stop.

We had an absolutely beautiful day for it.  These are apartments and shops overlooking the marina.  You just know you’re near the sea when houses are painted in pastel shades like this.

A lovely area to mooch around in.

Some very classy shops too.

Lots of these red rockers strategically placed here and there to take the weight off your feet while you take in the superb views.

Even some under the lighthouse.

Lots of restaurants with shady places to eat.

And when you’ve finished your meal you can always stroll down to the sea front and watch the dolphins.  We didn’t spot any on our visit but I presume these are the same kind of dolphins we had seen in the sea off Charleston.

I loved this little rocking boat.  Much prettier than an A board to bring attention to your shop.

We didn’t ask about these tours.  None of us had any desire to get up close and personal with an alligator!

Hilton Head is such a pretty place and a fantastic spot to spend a holiday for certain.  We really enjoyed our day there.  From here it was onto Savannah and what a little gem that was waiting for us!BlogSignature
